Burton Historical Collection

The Burton Historical Collection located at the Main Library of the Detroit Public Library system is one of the most comprehensive collections with information on Detroit.

Library of Congress

The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world and through their website have made available historical materials from their collection.

Michigan State Archives

The State Archives of Michigan is reponsible for preserving the records of Michigan government and other public institutions.

National Archives and Records Administration (NARA)

NARA administers a nationwide network of facilities, providing access to essential governmental records.

National Automotive History Collection (NAHC)

Located at the downtown Rose and Robert Skillman Branch of the Detroit Public Library, the NAHC is regarded as the nation's premier public automotive archive.

Walter P. Reuther Library

The Reuther Library associated with Wayne State University focuses on the American labor movement and related reform movements of the twentieth century, and has extensive material on the history of metropolitan Detroit.

William L. Clements Library

Located on the campus of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, the Clements Library houses original resources on American history and culture from the fifteenth to the early twentieth century.
